Our Mission

Arrabon cultivates Christian communities to pursue healing and reconciliation in a racially divided world.

The Need for Racial Healing and Reconciliation

God is on a mission to reconcile and renew all things (Revelation 21:5). The Gospel of Jesus Christ is the good news of God’s rule and reign on earth as it is in heaven. As the people of God, we are called to be ambassadors of God’s mission of reconciliation, a foretaste of the Kingdom of God (2 Corinthians 5:19-20). God’s heart breaks for the countless examples of brokenness across the world.

Racial brokenness is present throughout U.S. American history and present-day realities. We know that broken things do not heal on their own. When the American Church is absent from the work of racial healing, we lose the opportunity to proclaim and demonstrate the gospel of reconciliation. Arrabon equips Christ-followers to live into their calling to be ambassadors of reconciliation.

Our Commitment to Spiritual Formation

“Spiritual formation is the process of being transformed in the image of Christ for the glory of God, for the sake of others, and the abundant life.” – Ruth Haley Barton

Spiritual formation is central to our mission. As we become more like Christ, we are transformed into people who love God and our neighbors.

Holistic Approach | God created us as whole people: body, mind, and spirit. Therefore, spiritual formation transforms our whole selves into the image of Christ.

Empowered by the Holy Spirit | Our participation in God’s mission of reconciliation is made possible by the Holy Spirit’s empowerment. This does not encourage inaction, but rather, encourages us to stay rooted in the true source of reconciliation.

Centrality of Scripture | Throughout Scripture, there is an overarching narrative of God’s mission to reconcile all things. Scripture is a primary source of our understanding of reconciliation.

Becoming a Reconciling Community

A Reconciling Community is a group of people committed to a rhythm of life together that helps them become a foretaste of the kingdom of God on earth.

Reconciling Communities:

  • Join God in healing spiritual, emotional, relational, and societal/structural brokenness.
  • Are committed to practicing reconciliation as spiritual formation.
  • Are biblically-grounded in their approach.
  • Are committed to understanding their context, its nuances, and how to best embody reconciliation.
  • Respond to conflict and problems with a posture of curiosity, creativity, and imagination.

Our Values

Arrabon seeks to engage in reconciliation with hospitality and care. The following values guide our work and allow many voices, experiences, and perspectives to be honored and heard within communities of shared faith.

We are biblically-rooted. In a time of deep division we look to the wisdom of Scripture for guidance and hope.

We maintain a pastoral-prophetic voice. We desire to speak the truth with gentleness, understanding, and love.

We believe in bridge-building. Amidst differences, we actively seek common ground where we can build change together.

We promote informed action. We help communities engage with wisdom and thoughtfulness to become agents of healing and reconciliation within their context.

We catalyze the creation of new culture. We believe communal imagination and collaboration is an essential practice to becoming a foretaste of the Kingdom of God to come.

Help Make Reconciliation Possible

You can help more communities learn how to live as a reconciling community. We invite you to join Arrabon in its work of healing and change.
