Cultivating Kinship

Each week builds on the last, moving participants through a rhythm of scripture, reflection, and practice. The sessions follows a cohesive flow:

-Romans 12 Reading & Lectio Divina Practice

-Visio Divina centered on art inspired by Romans 12

-An Arrabon Conversation Video about a core theological principle

-A Roundtable Discussion Video unpacking how to embody the session’s core principle

-Reflection Questions to be used for journaling and/or discussion

-A Breath Prayer to further embody the core principle of the week
 

-Prayer of Examen Practice

-The Lord’s Prayer Practice

Cultivating Kinship was developed to help you cultivate redemptive imagination as you seek to embody safety, trust and belonging. You can engage alongside a church small group, family, friend groups, co-workers, or any group of people committed to being formed in the reconciling way of Jesus. You can also go through the course on your own; however, we encourage you to tell another person about your engagement with the material so you can have a partner in embodying this work!

The dream for Cultivating Kinship was formed as a part of a grant from TenX10’s Deep Dive Project. We began the journey by exploring how parents, care-givers, youth ministers, and leaders could steward intergenerational belonging and safety. We started with our existing Principles of Engagement which we use in our workshops and Experiential Learning, which help us cultivate trauma-informed spaces amidst disintegration and challenging conversations. We applied these principles to the context of caring for and with young people by interviewing parents, pastors, youth leaders, and emerging adults. However, we found that this work of cultivating kinship is necessary across generations. We all need to be formed for navigating our challenging divides and complicated relationships. We are hopeful for how God continues to use this resource across the country among Christ-followers committed to the work of healing and reconciliation.

Cultivating Kinship is for anyone seeking to bridge divides across generations, communities, and lived experience. This resource equips people at every stage of life to build safety, trust, and honest dialogue across difference. While we utilize “caring for and engaging with young people” as the container for application, these principles and practices can be applied across many different dynamics.

Cultivating Kinship is hosted on the Arrabon App. The app can be downloaded on iOS (ios link) and Google Play Store (google play store link) or accessed on the web browser of your choice (app.arrabon.com). 

Each digital license is $10. If you’d like to purchase 10+ licenses for your group, community or organization, please contact us at formation@arrabon.com for group rates. Each license includes a digital/downloadable workbook and our app-based course. These can be used in tandem with each other or you can choose to engage with one option. If you’d like to purchase a professional print of the workbook, you can do so on our Lulu page (link here). Otherwise, you may choose to print at home or with your local print shop.
